Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak that has taken the world in shock, some chapters of Hearts for Homeless International are taking extraordinary initiatives to help the homeless people in their community. The chapters at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Central Florida acknowledged the unavailability of basic essential needs to maintain sanitation during the virus outbreak and members of the chapters were able to provide the homeless community with information packages along with soap and water bottles. The UCF chapter also took their vision a step further and partnered with Walt Disney World to provide homeless shelters with excess food leftover at the theme park. The UNC-Chapel Hill chapter is also devising a prototype for easily accessible handwashing stations. Other chapters throughout the country including Los Angeles, Dallas, Tampa, Gainseville, and Boston have also taken great measures to help provide hygiene products to help keep the homeless community safe from the COVID-19 virus. Hearts for Homeless International is proud of its chapters for their exceptional work in giving back to the community during this difficult time!
