Meet The Team

Kayla Shepherd
Officer of National Internal Affairs

  • I am currently a junior at the University of Central Florida majoring in Biomedical Sciences and minoring in Political Sciences. I graduated from EMT school in 2020 and now serve as an EMT for American Ambulance and a CNA for an Orlando Health ER.
  • I first joined Hearts for the Homeless as a freshman after hearing about it from a classroom visit. After attending the first GBM and BP screening, I knew I wanted to further my involvement in H4H. The leadership and other members made an amazing impression – always so encouraging and inspiring. The BP screenings always remind me of what I am working towards… providing healthcare to those who need it most.
  • I joined Hearts for the Homeless as a freshman in college, serving as a Presidential Director for the UCF chapter. This will be my third year serving as a Presidential Director and I couldn’t be more excited! I also served as an Internal Affairs Director within Hearts for the Homeless International for two years before becoming the current Officer of National Internal Affairs. Now, I work with all of our national chapters to ensure they are operating smoothly and provide them with any resources they may need. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I served as President of the H4H International Forward Committee. Together we devised a plan to continue to help the homeless throughout the pandemic by implementing Telehealth and mask-making events within the chapters.
  • My goal is to become an Emergency Room Physician in a level one trauma center. I would also love to incorporate public health and policy into my career to promote health equity within underserved and underrepresented communities.
