Medical information questions, answered.

Medical information sets what happens at a screening opportunity: what is measured, how it is recorded, what counts as a concerning result, and what a volunteer does next.

What is actually measured at a screening opportunity?

Blood pressure is the core reading, alongside a short conversation about health history and access to care. Chapters running dental or mental wellness components follow the same recording standard, so results stay comparable across countries.

What happens if a reading is concerning?

The volunteer follows a referral threshold that medical information publishes, rather than making a judgement call. Referral means connecting the person to a partner clinic or food share nearby, and recording the handover so it can be followed up.

Are volunteers qualified to do this?

Volunteers are trained to the protocol this department publishes, and a screening opportunity is education and early detection, not diagnosis or treatment. Anything clinical is referred to a partner clinic.

Where do the teaching materials come from?

The medical innovation team writes them. They are researched, reviewed and distributed to every chapter, so a volunteer in Amman is taught the same thing as a volunteer in Orlando.

How does mental wellness fit in?

Mental health officers work alongside medical information so wellbeing is part of routine community care rather than a separate programme bolted on afterwards.
